I know I’m a broken record on this issue, but it matters to me.

I ended up getting that game on Xbox Series X just so we could continue playing Call of Duty together without it either crashing or having to deal with Cold War’s myriad split-screen bugs. We started going back to Modern Warfare exclusively for this, and then on PS5 that game kept crashing over and over and over again, at times crashing so hard we had to reset the console manually. So we don’t really play Black Ops Cold War locally anymore even though we would love to given the chance. This makes it not just difficult, but downright impossible to play split-screen. Worse, there will be matches where the enemy character models only show up as a pair of swinging arms or a gun or nothing at all. Sometimes, your entire character is invisible. Sometimes this goes away after a round or two. You have to shoot with invisible firearms. After this first match, for reasons I do not understand, the graphics bug out completely.

In both Gunfight and Multiplayer, we can get exactly one mostly-bug-free match in before things go haywire. Now, while that bug has apparently been fixed, others have reared their ugly heads. It was basically a cheat-but the hack was built in, not something players had to implement themselves.įrankly, with the rest of the split-screen problems in this game, this bug just leveled the playing field. For a time, this wasn’t happening, and you could see exactly where the other team was going if you watched the bottom screen. You can always see the other team at the beginning of a Gunfight match, but those red outlines are supposed to disappear when the round starts. For a while there was a bug where the second player (the bottom screen) was able to see the red outlines of the other team for the entire match. The devs probably aren't allowed to care about this game anymore, but it would be great if someone tried to fix these game breaking bugs before abandoning this game forever.But other things have gone wrong as well. Instead Activision is already working on the second game to release since this one came out, no doubt rushing another broken product out the door to try to make a quick buck.

Also, they added so much free content to this game, didn't need a season pass to get all the maps + Outbreak.

Sure it's easier than BO3 and even BO4, but the movement system is very fluid, and the multiple weapon upgrade paths allow more variety of viable weapon choices for casual play. It's sad because this iteration of zombies was actually pretty good. With how broken this game is, it isn't even possible to casually play and have fun, if I want to play with my friends. We couldn't even make it to the radio step because we couldn't get to round 2. EVERY time we went to warp to the next world, the splitscreen game crashed to the Xbox home screen.

No cross play, and we are all on the same network (setup with different ports to avoid conflicts, and proper NAT forwarding so everyone has Open NAT), so that will definitely solve all the issues, right? Three people, so one Xbox was splitscreen, one was not. So we gave up on cross play, and decided to meet up in person to play on a couple Xbox's. It's too bad though, because there was a point in time when the game was actually playable (around the time Firebase Z came out). Cross play on this game is simply broken. We've tried restarting, reinstalling, verifying files, etc. This happens in public and private lobbies. And that is after overcoming other issues like failed to host lobby, failed to join party, and countless disconnects seconds before the game starts.

Every time we start the first step (the radio), one of the PCs crashes. I have wanted to do the Outbreak EE with my friends who play on PC, but cross play support for this game is hopeless.
